About Sara

Sara Johnson

MA, LPCC, ATR-BC

I am passionate about providing a safe and non-judgmental space where you can feel supported, listened to, and understood. We are all on unique journeys filled with moments of joy, pain, and uncertainty. Each challenge in life comes with the opportunity to learn and grow. Together we can embrace those challenges and see what gifts they have to offer you.

Originally from the East Coast, I have lived in New Mexico for several years. I studied a holistic, consciousness-centered approach to counseling that focused on trauma and integrating your mind and body. My special focus is on treating trauma, emotional neglect, and family issues. I have worked at Tierra Nueva Counseling Center, Northern New Mexico Neuropsychology, Life Healing Center, and GD Psych Services.

My personal journey of healing and the creative process are what inspired me to become a therapist. I took many of the photos posted here on my site while hiking with my dog, Layla, one of my favorite self-care activities.

My Values

I am committed to providing a therapeutic space that supports:

  • LGBTQIA+

  • Therapeutic use of psychedelics

  • Sex positivity

  • Body positivity

  • Trauma recovery

  • Neurodivergence

Areas of Expertise

I specialize in treating trauma, early childhood abuse, emotional neglect, and sexual and religious traumas. I work with folks dealing with ptsd, anxiety, depression, addictions, and relationship issues.

I also enjoy working with teens and adults using art therapy to release emotions, gain personal insight, and raise self-esteem.

I welcome working with those looking for a safe space to integrate their psychedelic experiences.
